In front of the Cathedral of St. Theresa is a monument to Frair Luka Ibrišimović, the savior of Požega and liberator from the Ottomans.
The monument to Požega’s “Falcon” was made by Đuro Kiš, and it was erected back in 1893, right in front of the church portal. It was placed in its current place after the Second World War and to this day reminds the people of Požega of their hero, who in 1688 led the people into a decisive battle against the Ottomans.
Every year on March 12, St. Gregory’s Day, the people of Požega remember this famous Franciscan and the great battle, celebrating that day as their City Day.
